Not always. Single upgrades, such as heat pumps, can skip the audit. Bundled upgrades (two or more improvements) require a pre-retrofit assessment completed before any work begins. Skipping this step disqualifies your claim.
Check eligibility → choose a single or bundled path → book a pre-retrofit energy assessment if required → choose a participating contractor and have them submit a pre-installation application → wait for approval before any work begins → complete the upgrade. Your contractor then submits a post-installation application, and once approved, your rebate cheque typically arrives within 60 days.
Pre-approval is mandatory, so installations completed before approval aren’t eligible for a rebate.
